Applications are open to join the Building Practitioners Board

On behalf of the Minister for Building and Construction, the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment is seeking applications from candidates who are interested in bringing their successful background and experience to the role of member of the Building Practitioners Board (the Board).

The Board is responsible for the Licensed Building Practitioners (LBP) Scheme. The Board is responsible for approving rules relating to LBPs, investigating complaints against LBPs and hearing appeals against decisions of the Registrar in accordance with the Building Act 2004 (the Act).

The Board is now seeking a new member. We welcome applications from candidates who are highly experience from one of the building trades. Candidates should be able to demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • candidates who have a current licence. Expressions of interest are especially encouraged from LBPs in areas such as roofing or foundations.
  • a thorough knowledge of the Act and the Building Code
  • disputes resolution experience

This is a contestable process and applications will be assessed according to the skills and experience the Board requires at this particular time.
