Webinar and consultation on pathways for overseas building products
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is developing three new pathways for building products to be used more easily in Aotearoa New Zealand following the passing of the Building (Overseas Building Products, Standards, and Certification Schemes) Amendment Act 2025.
The Building Performance team is hosting a webinar on Tuesday 10 June 2025 at 11am to discuss what these pathways will look like and to answer your questions.
The webinar will be hosted by Clare Botha, Principal Advisor Building System Delivery and Assurance, who will be joined by:
- Katie Symons, Principal Advisor Engineering, who will discuss the new Building Product Specifications and how you can give your feedback on what product standards and specifications are proposed to be in this regulatory instrument
- Amanda Macauley, Principal Advisor System Performance and Implementation, and Lisa Clephane, Technical Lead Building Regulatory Services, who will discuss the recognition of products certified overseas by MBIE and the recognition of overseas standards by the Minister for Building and Construction.

MBIE also invites you to have your say on the draft Building Product Specifications in a consultation running until 5pm on Monday 23 June. We are keen to get your feedback on standards and other references that are proposed to be included in the first edition of the Building Product Specifications, as well as your thoughts on further standards that could be included in future editions.
