Relicensing

Every year, the Registrar makes contact with you about 30 working days before your licence expires, to confirm if you wish to remain licensed. This initial contact may be done through letter or email.

You will be asked to:

  • confirm your details shown on the public register
  • confirm that you are still working in the industry
  • pay the licence renewal fee and scheme levy of $239.00.

In order for your licence to be renewed, you must submit an application for relicensing within 20 working days from the date of this inital contact.

For more information on relicensing, please see Rules 14, 15 and 17 of the LBP Rules.

Submit your application for relicensing

You can renew your licence by logging into our online portal. This will give you the option to complete an application for relicensing, and pay the licence renewal fee (plus any late fee that may apply).

If you are unable to use our LBP portal, you can also renew your license on paper by submitting the form below. If you provide an email address with this form, the Registrar will contact you via email. Please keep in mind that a paper-based application may take longer to process.

If you do not intend to renew your licence, you can voluntarily request for your licence to be suspended or cancelled.

Suspend or cancel your licence

Every second year you are also required to ensure that you show the Registrar that you have met your Skills Maintenance obligations. This applies even if your licence is suspended.

Late relicensing and additional fee

If you do not submit an application for relicensing within 20 working days from the date of the Registrar’s initial contact, the Registrar will send you a reminder notice.

You may still submit an application for relicensing after receiving this reminder. However, your renewal fee will include an additional late fee surcharge of $25.56.

If you do not submit an application for relicensing after receiving this reminder:

  • Your licence will be automatically suspended 20 working days from the date of this reminder notice.
  • Your licence will be cancelled within 12 months from the date of the suspension.

If your licence is cancelled, you will need to file a new application for licensing in order to regain your licence.
